General Information
Located between Gainesville and Ocala in North Central Florida, Williston Crossings RV Park is Big Rig friendly with 450 mostly spacious RV sites complete with large concrete pads and wide paved roads.

Every RV site is full hook-up with 30/50 Amp electrical service, sewer and water, along with free Cable TV. Pull-thru or back-in sites are available and most offer high speed WiFi Internet. Check the rate sheet for the seasonal, monthly, weekly, daily, yearly and bi-yearly rates. Note in one of our previous posts, we mentioned that they offered Passport America but they don’t any more. Now they only offer a 10% Good Sam discount.

There are two sections to the resort, South Park which was the original resort and the newly expanded North Park which was just completed a year or two ago. Park models are available for rent or for sale in both sections.

We have had problems with their on-line reservation system not giving us the Good Sam discount and also not accurately representing the sites/dates available. We recommend calling to make a reservation to save yourself some trouble.

Overall Impression – 4/5

The vibe here is comfortable and very friendly. Williston appears to be a popular destination resort for snowbirds. We have been here several times and see the same rigs and the same people spending the season here and they seem to love it. Different from the “state park” vibe to be sure, but a place that feels safe and secure and we’re not inclined to lock everything up when we leave the coach. Clean and neat for the most part but some aspects of site maintenance (even grass mowing) seem to be up to the long term residents. And if there are any rules about “improvements” to the sites by the residents, it seems they are not very well defined, leaving a lot of room for personal “expression” and the discord that could eventually bring. There are lots of activities and the management seems actively involved in the running of the resort. For example, on our last stay there in March 2015 the owners sponsored a free “Til we meet again” get together for 400 of the residents and visitors.

Sites – 4/5

Size:
We’ve stayed here several times, once in 2012, in 2014, and twice in 2015, each time staying on a different site in both sections of the resort. Most sites are decently sized and arranged compared to other private parks. In 2014, we had a site in North Park which we didn’t like at all – very stark, sunny and no privacy, so based on that experience, we’ve concluded that we prefer the the more mature aspect of the South Park section.

During our last visit, we stayed on site #126 in North Park but it was a Premium back in site overlooking the quarry. Lovely site with a nice view but a few of the sites along the rim of the quarry have a fairly significant driveway incline. In the middle of backing in, Rob had to stop and remove the tow bar and hoist our mud flap to avoid damage. When we left we had to move the coach to a flatter area and reattach the tow bar. Not a big deal just a PITA.

Privacy:
Depends on which section – the older South Park is more heavily wooded so the sites tend to be somewhat more private. While North Park has some trees and plantings, they are young and currently the sites are more wide open with less shade and virtually no privacy.

Amenities – 5/5
Lots of amenities here – 450 back in and pull thru sites with full hook ups and cement pads, wide asphalt roadways, free cable/wi-fi, pool, fitness center, pavilion, two gated entrances, large clubhouse, gazebo fire pit, tennis, pickle ball, shuffleboard, laundry, biking and hiking trails and lots of activities!

Location – 4/5
Just a short hop from the resort is the town of Williston which has a Winn Dixie and another smaller grocery store, medical services, restaurants, beauty salons, veterinarian services, etc. Plus it is only about a 30 minute drive to the larger cities of Gainesville and Ocala if you can’t find what you need or want in Williston.

Maneuverability and Roads – 5/5
Roads are wide, paved and in excellent condition. No problem maneuvering our big rig around the resort. Although be warned that a few of the sites that overlook the quarry in the North Park have an upward incline that may be an issue to some rigs. This was a problem for us on site # 126 and we had to remove our drop hitch/tow bar.

Peace & Quiet – 4/5
There are active railroad tracks directly along the north eastern edge of the park so depending where you are in the park that could be annoying. While we heard the trains a few times, they were never particularly bothersome at the assorted sites we had which were mostly on the opposite side of the park.

Utilities – 4/5

• Satellite – depends on section and site. North Park satellite reception is generally good while South Park sites are more wooded and satellite reception can be marginal. However, North Park site #126 that we stayed on has trees that were just perfectly positioned and directly blocked access to the DISH Network Western Arc from our roof mounted dish. Eastern Arc birds were no problem.
• WiFi – Wifi is offered with good coverage thruout the park and decent performance except for the usual slowdowns and stuttering around peak times.
• Cellular signal – Moderately good Verizon 4G LTE with booster.
• Over-the-Air (OTA) TV – We were able to lock in to all major network stations except NBC.
• Power – on our most recent stay on site #126, we had a problem with power brownouts. It was fairly hot so everyone was running their air conditioners. On previous stays we have not had any problems with power which leads us to think there may be a problem with the power on site #126 or other sites in this area.
• Water Pressure/Quality – pressure was a bit low but steady at 35psi, quality was good with a slight chlorine odor.

What We Liked
– Easy big rig maneuverability
– Very clean, well maintained park
– South Park sites which offer more privacy
– Hiking/biking trails and exploring the quarry (complete with abandoned antique vehicles)
– Mostly Spacious sites with full concrete pad

What We Didn’t Like
– North Park sites – some are stark with no privacy
– Power brownouts we experienced with our 50 amp service on our most recent visit
– No campfires allowed, but they do have a nice communal firepit in the South Park.
