Well, it’s been awhile since our last post, guess that’s the problem when you come to Disney, there is so much to see and do that you end up totally exhausted by the end of the day! We’ve had really good weather, temps in the high 70’s to low 80’s – apparently the temps are about 10 degrees higher than they normally are this time of year. We’re certainly not complaining!

In fact, we’ve been having such a good time, we decided to change our itinerary and extend our stay until February 3rd.  Luckily we are able to stay on site #616 so we don’t have to move.

Last Saturday, January 21st, we had a few errands to run (the usual BJ’s and Home Depot) so we started off our day by driving into historic downtown Kissimee where we had breakfast at Joanie’s Diner.  Good food,  reasonable prices and good service. In fact, we ended up going there again a few days later.

When we finally returned back to Fort Wilderness in the early afternoon, we decided to take the boat over to Magic Kingdom and then jump on the monorail so we could explore the Grand Floridian resort.  Last winter we explored all the resorts when we were here but we must be creatures of habit because we never seem to tire of going to the Disney resorts especially since it involves either a boat or monorail ride.  We pretty much spent most of the afternoon wandering around the Grand Floridian and sitting in the lobby listening to the pianist.  Sitting on the white sand shores of Seven Seas Lagoon, the Grand Floridian is a Victorian style deluxe resort offering world class dining, entertainment  and luxurious accommodations in six red gabled buildings.  The lobby stands over five stories high, has two gorgeous chandeliers (how do they change the light bulbs I wonder) and stained glass domes in the ceiling.

Since it was dark by the time we returned, we walked by some pretty elaborately decorated campsites on the way back to ours.  Boy, some people really get into being at Disney, lit up palm trees, Mickey and Minnie inflatables, front windows stuffed with all sorts of Disney characters (hard to see in the picture on the left) and all sorts of other stuff on display.  We were wondering where they stow all this stuff when they leave Disney or perhaps they never leave.

Later after we arrived back at Fort Wilderness, we walked down to see the fireworks and then over to the Sing-A-Long area where we watched the movie, “Remember the Titans”.  It was like going to a drive in movie without the car! See Rob’s earlier post – An Evening at Fort Wilderness.
