Off To Florida
It always happens when we stay somewhere for an extended period of time. And this stay was no exception. As our departure date approached, we got itchy feet, knowing that it is time to move to our next destination!
Our sixty seven day stay in Foley had been a fairly busy one, getting together with friends, exploring old and new favorites, dodging raindrops and trying to stay warm. No guarantee that there would be an improvement in the weather but we were looking forward to our upcoming stay at one of our favorite places to stay and relax – East Bank Army Corps of Engineers (COE) Campground in Lake Seminole, FL (on the Georgia border).
By the time we made our reservation at this campground for a campsite, one site wasn’t available for the five day length of stay so we had to move. Site A12 would be our home for the first three nights.
After those three nights, we would pack up and move to site A9, our base for the next two nights. We’ve stayed on this site in the past and really like it because of the large footprint and because it is right on the water.
So how did we spend our time during our stay? By taking walks, exploring the area around the Jim Woodruff Dam, admiring the colorful sunsets, watching flitting bluebirds chasing insects and observing a small alligator and a turtle sunbathing in a small inlet next to our site. That was cool! In all the times we’ve been here, we’ve never seen an alligator!
You would think doing nothing would mean that the time would pass very slowly but unfortunately it didn’t. Sadly before we knew it, it was time to fly away to our next stop!
Our next stop was at the Lake City Campground in Lake City, FL, a campground we had stayed at before in 2016. Not much to report here, it was just a quick, convenient overnight stop. As you can see from the photo below, recent rain had made it pretty muddy!
The next day we would be off to Georgia! More to come…..
