Tentative itinerary
Well, it’s only mid-November and we have a tentative itinerary for our trip. We’ll be leaving either on New Year’s Weekend or on Monday, January 2nd. Not sure yet what route we are taking – we’d like to avoid going through CT on route 95 if at all possible. Of course, it is all subject to the wonderful winter weather. So the first couple of nights are up in the air.
We do know that we will be stopping at Freightliner in Gaffney, SC to have some routine maintenance done. This will be interesting since we won’t want to leave the kids onboard so we’ll have to figure out what to do with them for a day or two. Gaffney is where they build the custom Freightliner chassis and besides a 15% discount on service there are free overnight sites with 50A power and water.
From there, we’ll be heading down to the east coast of FL where we will stop in St. Augustine (hope to see our new friends the Folands), in Vero Beach to visit Ann and Jim Peabody and in Stuart to see Joan Giblin. We’ll most likely stay at the beautiful St. Lucie West Motorcoach Resort which is an Outdoor Resorts facility in Port St. Lucie and where we stayed last year. The photo on the left shows our view from our site.
There’s a pre-owned Kadey Krogan 42′ widebody that just came on the market and is located in Stuart so we might stop in and have a look.
Then we’re off to Ft. Wilderness at Disney where we have reservations for the 18th through the 28th. Then on to a repeat performance of the Fleetwood Discovery Rally at Lazy Days in Seffner (near Tampa) where we’ll spend from the 29th to February 3rd taking a few classes and catching up with the friends we made last year.
In the latter part of February as we head over to Alabama, we’ll stop again at the East Bank Campground, Lake Seminole (Bainbridge), GA. This is an Army Corps of Engineering campground – we stayed there last year and really enjoyed it. That’s us at our campsite right on the lake.
We have reservations at Bella Terra RV Resort in Foley, AL for the month of March so between February 3rd and March 1st, we can wander aimlessly on the south west coast of FL, which will include a visit with our friends, Bob & Chris Kozak in Fort Myers. The photo on the right shows our view of the clubhouse from our site. Our reservation this year is actually that pad that you see in the corner of the picture.
Also sometime in March, Jim & Joan Bodwell will be stopping by prior to occupying their condo in New Orleans.
Counting the days – we can’t wait!
