A Visit to Middlebury & Wakarusa
Since the repairs from the FedEx truck in Seekonk were completed, Rob was not happy with the front of the coach so he had sent Joyce Skinner, Director of Customer Service at Entegra, a note to schedule an appointment on Friday, April 22nd, to have one of the engineers look at it.
When we arrived on Thursday, April 21st, we nabbed a spot in the Entegra parking lot.
Once settled in, we were off and running to visit a few of our favorite places in Shipshewanna – E & S Sales Bulk Foods,
Yoder Popcorn which had moved to the corner of Rt. 5 & 20 and the Rise N Roll where we bought a half dozen of the cinnamon caramel doughnuts (Amish crack). We also ordered fried chicken (8 pieces $20) at Das Essenhaus in Middlebury. Although the chicken was good, the breast pieces were pretty small so we were somewhat disappointed in that. We also bought a half blueberry pie from their bakery.
So love this area, always so pretty and seeing the Amish buggies is always a treat!
And of course we had to have breakfast at Callahan’s Restaurant in Elkhart where you order two eggs and get three!
On Friday morning, PJ and 3 other engineers came out to assess the damage. They all agreed that the repairs done in Seekonk were not done correctly and would require that a piece of the fiberglass be cut out and replaced. After they left, Joyce came to find us in the lobby because Mark, the owner of S & S was there so she had asked him to look at our coach. He came to the same conclusion that the guys had come to. We had scheduled an appt at S & S Automotive Repair in Wakarusa for Monday.
Denise Barlock and Dave Schultz (we had met them Quartzsite) were also at Entegra. We ended up playing Dominoes with them and another couple on Friday night. Great fun!
On Sunday we all (Denise & Dave also had an appointment) drove to S & S where we would spend the night. That night, we went out for dinner with them to Hunter’s Hideaway in Nappanee where we dined on appetizers – excellent jalapeno poppers, pulled pork nachos, onion rings and buffalo chicken tenders.
On Monday, we met with Mark and Cassie to determine a game plan for our repairs. Unfortunately they were totally backed up with appointments. Instead of making a separate trip there over the summer, we set up an appointment for the week of October 10th. In the meantime, Denise & Dave left.
After we were done with Mark, we went to Bianas Diner for breakfast where we both had Greek omelets. Excellent!
Although we have taken it numerous times, Rob wanted to once again take the 2:00 p.m. factory tour on Tuesday, given by Don Brubecker. Unfortunately there were no Entegra Motorcoaches on the line, everything was dedicated to the Super C’s.
On Wednesday we went to Dutchmaid Eatery in Bremen where I had the Amish Country Scrambler ($8.99) and Rob had the Haystack ($6.99) and an order of Fried Mush ($2.99). Excellent!
After breakfast we explored their general store across the street which was a typical Amish store.
On Thursday we left Wakarusa, heading east.
