Farewell Labelle!
Today we leave Labelle headed for Bradenton, FL near Sarasota where we will meet up with Linda and Herb, Rob’s aunt and uncle. We’ll be staying at the Horseshoe Cove RV park near Linger Lodge Campground which is where Linda and Herb are. By the time we tried to make reservations, Linger Lodge did not have any available sites.
Overall, it’s been a great stay at Riverbend! As mentioned in a previous post our only complaint is that it is pretty far from Fort Myers, Naples, etc. but I guess if you weren’t interested in exploring the surrounding area it is a wonderful place to stay. The other shortcoming was that there was no outdoor patio set on this particular site so eating or entertaining outside was not an option. Next time we’ll know to ask for a site that has one.
In addition to our next door neighbors, Sophie and Louie, we met several other people at breakfast on Saturday who extended their hospitality to us – Nikki on site 170, Jean on site 20 and Linda and Jon on site 212. They all had told us to stop by for drinks any time we felt like it but due to our somewhat busy schedule, we never had a chance to take them up on their offer but we thank them for their invite and hospitality. Everyone here, whether a seasonal renter or site owner, was very friendly!
It was a busy week! Our friends from the yacht club in RI, Bob and Chris visited us on Monday and then we visited them at their home in North Fort Myers on Wednesday. And on Thursday, we went to Corkscrew Swamp in Naples. We’ll be doing separate posts on these later.
We ate a few times at the Alva Diner which is just a few miles down the road. From the outside, it doesn’t look that great but it sure is a popular place perhaps because it is the only restaurant in town! We went there on a Sunday morning and there was a line out the door so we didn’t stay. We returned on Monday. They have daily specials – omelet of the day for $4.59 or two eggs, bacon, home fries or grits, and toast for $3.49! On our first visit we both had a bacon and cheese omelet. Yikes, there seemed like they cooked it with a half pound of bacon! Don’t go here if you want a healthy meal! We couldn’t finish it so the leftovers were great on the following day.
Well, it’s time to hit the road! Later……
Here’s a few miscellaneous photos:
Jim would have loved the bacon at the Alva Diner. Safe travels today.
