The Eagle has landed……
….in her nest, that is, and has laid 3 eggs! No, not here in Florida but in Decorah, Iowa at least the ones that are the focus of this post.
During our travels here in Florida, we have seen several bald eagles which is always thrilling but unfortunately none were ever close enough to get a really good view or to allow us to take any pictures. When we were at Williston Crossings RV Resort recently, our new friends, Sue and Tim from Indiana, had told us about this eagle webcam site and sent us the link to it (thanks, Sue and Tim!). I find it totally mesmerizing – if I didn’t have anything else to do, I could sit and watch it all day long.
The other day I saw both mom and dad on the nest and the three eggs – how cool is that! I’m not sure when they are due to hatch but according to what I’ve read the incubation period is about 35 days and the eggs were laid between February 17th and 24th so I guess that would mean that the little guys (or girls) might be here towards the middle or end of March.
You can also go directly to the webcam site by clicking here. I’ve also added the link to the right sidebar under the Links section.
Just click on the play arrow and enjoy! Sorry about the advertising but I have no control over that!
