Blackwater River State Park, Holt, FL — 4 Comments

  1. Hi Rob and Linda!
Finally using my computer again at Sherling Lake. Almost feels weird. Cookin up some corned beef and cabbage for St. Paddy’s day. We trespassed that construction ribbon and walked the Pavillion Boardwalk (renegades that we are) ! One thing you might want to add to your blog is that there are no laundry facilities. It wasn’t a problem for us at the time, but now that we are here in Sherling there are none here either. So rather than going to some podunk lawn-dree-mat, we went to (OMG) Walmart to buy more underwear and sox for Lee (I came prepared). Actually it was a good thing because we were able to get our groceries and wine too and picked up a few caches. Now to add a bit more info on this place we’re at….there are no biking trails…a little hiking trail…next to a Robert Trent golf course (not a golfer)….extremely quiet (maybe we got lucky)…lot #1 is the one you want, big pull thru with a deck overlooking a wooded ravine with a lake-definately the primo lot. The remaining lots are rather helter-skelter but we assessed and noted others that we could “tolerate”. There’s a couple of FEMA trailers here -unoccupied but WTF. Anyways, we are enjoying it-lots of birds and flowering trees (we even have our birdfeeder out)..we have Bluebirds! and a totally Zen experience (except for those other people here) 🙂 Hope you guys are enjoying your stays and looking forward to reading more of your blog. Take Care…….

    • Loved reading your comments. Thanks for pointing out the fact that we didn’t mention that there is no laundry at Blackwater – guess we missed that since we don’t have to use the laundry facilities in the campgrounds. Good thing there was a nearby Walmart or your neighbors would have had to avoid being near Lee.LOL We’ll update our post with that information. Glad to hear you like Sherling – guess we’ll have to add that to our bucket list!

    • If there was a pull through site on a lake then you weren’t at blackwater river state park. Blackwater has one pull through used for Campground hosts in the center of the Magnolia loop. There are also no campsites over a lake and the nearest golf course is a decent drive away. On top of that there arent any decks attached to any campsites.

      • Hi thanks for the comment! Note however that Denise was not saying there was a pull-thru or golf course at Blackwater River, she was referencing the campground they stayed at after that.
